We are a group dedicated to changing what comes to mind when people hear the phrase "soup kitchen."
We are a group dedicated to changing what comes to mind when people hear the phrase "soup kitchen."
Our Mission is to promote health, nutrition and community among the residents of the 'Quietside' of Mount Desert Island, Maine through the following activities:
* Offer festive Community Meal Events that bring people together regularly in the winter
* Distribute free soups and whole food salads to senior residences and others
* Promote dietary habits which foster health and wellness
* Promote the use of local foods harvested from the sea as well as local produce
* Educate and teach easy preparation of whole foods
* Help build and maintain a sense of community all year round
* Provide a model of green, eco-friendly living
* Provide affordable natural food by keeping our costs down
* Help other local charities and service organizations
